The Self-Empower Now program
Stages 1 and 2, teaches you how to speak up for yourself and stand up for your rights. By planning, and learning self-advocacy skills, you'll get better at sharing what you need. The classes are held in person and have small groups. People who attended found it very helpful to meet others in the class who have faced similar challenges.
Stages 3 to 5 of the program focus on using your personal experiences to take on paid roles as Consumer Representatives. Consumer Reps share their stories and ideas to advocate for improvements in services. For instance, someone might become part of a committee that helps advise a mental health service, sharing feedback on how easy it is to access the service or helping to evaluate various programs.
